Alexandros N. Karavas, MD


Dr. Alexandros N. Karavas received his medical degree from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Following his training in Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology at Albertinen Hospital in Hamburg, Germany, he went on to become a Clinical and Research Fellow in Cardiac Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. There, Dr. Karavas also completed an Internship in General Surgery. He then completed a Residency in General Surgery at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his Residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Aortic Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Instructor in Surgery. Dr. Karavas practiced cardiothoracic surgery in Manchester, NH before joining Albany Cardiothoracic Surgeons in 2013. Dr. Karavas is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
